About:

Frank joined the Office of the University Registrar in August 2015. He comes to Duke from Purdue University, where he served as the University Registrar. Prior to that, he worked as Director of the Office of the Registrar at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, where he received his PhD in Education Policy and Administration, with a concentration in Higher Education Administration. He is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada.

About:

Suze joined the University Registrar’s Office as Associate University Registrar in July 2022. Her career at Duke started in 2007 in the Registrar Office’s at Duke Law School where she held positions as Assistant Registrar and Registrar. She departed the Law for the Office of the University Registrar as the Senior Director of Curriculum Management. Suze earned a JD from Georgia State University College of Law and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Davidson College. She practiced law in Boston before relocating with her family back to North Carolina and determining that university administration was a good fit. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring local hiking trails, breweries, used records stores, and new travel destinations.

Responsibilities: 

Provides support to the University Registrar; departmental budgeting/payroll and recordkeeping; performs office manager duties (e.g., scheduling, maintaining inventory, purchasing, and supervising work-study students).

About:

Lisa started working at Duke University in February of 1996, gaining professional experiences within the departments of Botany, NSOE and Sociology. She left Duke in 2015 to pursue a career opportunity in upstate New York. Lisa returned to Duke in September 2017 to work in her present position. She has spent most of her professional career in staff assistant roles where she honed her skills in project management, planning, and financial operations. Lisa has two grown daughters, Ashley and Jennifer, and a Pomapoo named Daisy May.

Responsibilities: 

Operations director of the Office of Assessment, providing guidance and consultative expertise for assessment activities across academic programs and academic support services associated with education. Core responsibilities include the development and maintenance of the assessment infrastructure (data acquisition and maintenance), data analytics, enterprise reporting systems, and project management.

About:

Alessandra joined the Office of Assessment in March 2017. Early in her time at Duke she completed her PhD at North Carolina State University in Educational Policy and Research Analysis, Higher Education Administration. She serves as a Trinity College Advisor and enjoys teaching for the Graduate School's Certificate in College Teaching.

Responsibilities: 

Overall strategic planning for academic outcomes assessment in undergraduate education, including both the general education and individual programs; coordinating and ensuring appropriate use of student data for assessment analytics; assessment consultation with academic department officers, faculty and staff.

About:

Jennifer Hill has worked in learning outcomes assessment for over 18 years, appointed Director in 2020. She teaches research methods in the Program in Education at Duke, supervises undergraduate honors theses, and serves as an undergraduate pre-major advisor. She is active with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on College, participating in reaffirmation off- and on-site visits and chairing the 2021 and 2022 SACSCOC Annual Meeting planning committees. She received her AB in History and Political Science from the University of Notre Dame, followed by an MA in Political Science (Duke University), as well as MEd and EdD degrees in Education (North Carolina State University). Jennifer lives in Cary, NC with her husband and two children. She volunteers in the Wake County public schools assisting with school improvement committees and program evaluation, and she is active in the North Carolina Odyssey of the Mind.

Responsibilities: 

Managing administration of course evaluations processes in the Watermark system, including timeline; communications; and guidance for departments, instructors, and students. Providing support for the Office of Assessment, including but not limited to the following areas: data management, general education assessment, program projects and communications and outreach.

About:

Becca has been working at Duke since 2018, and came to her current role in late 2020 from the Office of Academic Deans, Trinity College, where she supported courses and curriculum. She also serves as an academic advisor and is a visual abstract artist.

Responsibilities:

Managing the undergraduate course evaluation data processes; supporting the maintenance of the assessment infrastructure (data acquisition and maintenance); analyzing and reporting academic, bio-demographic, and attitudinal data to support regular and ad hoc assessment initiatives including but not limited to local surveys and nationally-normed direct assessment instruments.

About:

Robert came to Duke in late 2021 as a Research Analyst in the Office of Assessment and, beginning in 2022, serves as a college advisor. Prior to that, he worked as an analyst the National Student Clearinghouse, RTI, and the Center for Responsible Lending. He holds a BA and MA in English from the University of Central Florida and Wake Forest University, respectively, and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development program at North Carolina State University. He is an avid musician, playing in multiple bands around the Triangle.

About:

Megan joined the Office of the University Registrar in March 2020. She previously worked at Georgetown University in the Department of Performing Arts as an Academic Administrator where she managed scheduling, registration, and served as assistant to the department Chair. Prior to starting her career in higher education, Megan worked in political research in Washington, DC. She received her BA in Political Science and Media Arts and Design from James Madison University. Outside of work, Megan loves to cook, read, and spend time with her family.

About:

Starting with her professional career in Azerbaijan, Natavan has always worked in higher education and research with a focus on domestic and international development. She began her career at Duke University in February 2013 and joined the OUR team in October 2021. In addition to her undergraduate degree in Geography and graduate degree in Economics & Management from Azerbaijan, Natavan earned her MA in Russian and East European Studies and Certificate in International Development from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

About: 

Brooke joined the registrar team at Duke University in September 2021. She has worked in a Registrar’s office for the previous five years before coming to Duke. She earned her BBA from Marshall University in Marketing & Management and minored in entrepreneurship. She is a coffee enthusiast and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and being in the water, as well as spoiling her nephew Ace.

About:

Julie began working in the Office of the University Registrar in August 2021 as the Veterans Benefits Certifying Official. She has more than 10 years of work experience within the North Carolina Community Colleges System in financial aid which includes the provision of financial aid to veteran students. Julie is a first-generation, non-traditional college graduate who considers herself a life-long learner. She enjoys taking care of her horses, hiking, and visiting state and local parks with her family.

Responsibilities: 

Certifies student athletes for intercollegiate and club sport participation, manages the compliance and training for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), supervises the creation of the many reports created for campus departments and the National Student Clearinghouse, serves as the Perceptive Software office liaison, and oversees the certification process for students receiving military benefits.

About:

Amy joined the OUR staff in 2015 after moving to Durham from frigid Wisconsin where she previously served as the registrar at a small, private, liberal arts college. She is originally from Burlington, Wisconsin and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. While not at work, she enjoys running, biking and reading. She and her husband Scott are big sports fans, especially college basketball, and her allegiance will always be to the Green Bay Packers.

Current responsibilities include advocating and implementing processes that ensure data quality and consistency, designing and developing business intelligence solutions, preparing and reporting on data for the National Student Clearinghouse, compiling enrollment statistics, and processing ad hoc reports for departments all over Duke. Anna represents Duke University at various internal, local, regional and national conferences focused on technical and reporting solutions. Anna also coaches staff members on reporting and PS query methodology.

About:

Anna joined the team in Fall 2015 after having worked in Registrar Offices both at Cornell University and The American College of Greece. She has lived and worked in three countries and transitioned wholeheartedly into Higher Ed in 2011. She graduated with a BS in Computer Information Systems from Deree College and an MA in New Media and Society from The University of Leicester.

Tessa now calls North Carolina home after relocating with her family from the Midwest. She joined the OUR staff in the Spring of 2019. She previously served as Registrar at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. Originally from North Dakota, Tessa received her bachelor’s degree from Valley City State University (ND) and her MBA from the University of Sioux Falls (SD). In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family. The family shares a love for sports, the outdoors, and family game night.
