Duke University uses the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) as its partner to provide enrollment information for federal compliance and loan deferment. Four times a semester and twice over the summer, the Office of the University Registrar provides student enrollment information to the NSC. This enrollment information includes term date information and whether or not the student is a full-time, half-time, or less-than-half time student. The NSC in turn, disseminates this information to the Department of Education for compliance with Title IV federal student aid regulations. The NSC also disseminates this information to various loan agencies for their use in determining student loan deferment.
Duke University also participates in the NSC’s DegreeVerify service. Employers contact the NSC to have instant verification that a Duke alum has earned a degree.
