The Office of University Assessment under the University Registrar manages course evaluation processes in a centralized Watermark account for the following schools and academic programs:

  • The Divinity School
  • The Graduate School
  • School of Law
  • Nicholas School of the Environment
  • Office of Biomedical Graduate Education Programs
  • Pratt School of Engineering Professional Programs
  • Sanford School of Public Policy
  • Trinity College of Arts & Sciences

Course evaluation policies, schedules, and questionnaires may vary across schools. Departments and academic programs select which courses will be available for evaluation.

At the end of each academic term, students can complete course evaluations online through Watermark (eval-duke.evaluationkit.com). Your feedback is important and contributes to the ongoing improvement of educational programs.

If you have serious concerns about the content of a course or your experiences, remember that Duke’s Office of Institutional Equity has an incident report form for incidents of protected status harassment, discrimination, and related misconduct involving students, faculty, or staff.

Confidentiality

Any information you submit via the online form is treated confidentially. Data are reported in the aggregate only, and no personally identifying information will be appended to your course evaluation responses.

Instructors will not see evaluation results until after grades are submitted.

If courses with low enrollment numbers are included for evaluation, those course evaluations results will be visible to instructors only when five or more students are enrolled. However, departments will have access to the results of these small courses for interpretation and feedback. Please note if you share identifiable information about yourself, or are in a very small class, an instructor may be able to identify you.

Online Course Evaluation Forms

If a course evaluation is attached to a class you are enrolled in, you will be able to access the course evaluation form by visiting eval-duke.evaluationkit.com. Throughout the evaluation window, you will receive email notifications of your course(s) eligible for evaluation in the Watermark platform.

Evaluation window dates will be included on the form in your dashboard. Be aware of your window’s end date to make sure you can submit before it closes.

View Course Evaluation Results in SACES
Access

Student Accessible Course Evaluation System (SACES) reports are available in Watermark to student “users” who have been enrolled in a course that received an evaluation. By default, this excludes incoming students in their first semester. However, any first-semester first year students or DKU students will be given access before Shopping Carts open for their selection of Spring courses. Due to the move to a new Watermark account, the majority of results are housed under the previous account (https://duke.evaluationkit.com/), and only include undergraduate courses and courses from Pratt professional programs. SACES will be published in the new account beginning fall 2024.

Navigation

To access course evaluation data, visit the Student Reporting tab on your account dashboard. To enter the searchable database of published results, select the tab “Student Reporting” on your dashboard menu.
